Charlottesville Writers Critique Circle – Poetry Section

Tuesday, June 4 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Calling all poets! Want to share your work, hone your verse, or simply connect with fellow writers? Come hang out with us as we delve into the wide world of poetry. We’ll meet two hours every other Tuesday to read and critique poems. Since we’re new, it may take us a while to figure out all the logistics, but for now we aim to have four poets present each meeting (with one backup presenter).
Poets can message me to sign-up for this first meeting. Interested attendees should send me their emails in a private message. A few days before the meeting, I’ll send out a document with the poems for the meeting. You can review them ahead of time and come in with comments. We’ll then read the pieces aloud, and attendees can provide constructive feedback.
For now, we ask that each poet limit their submissions to either two small poems (of no more than a page in length) or one longer poem (no more than three pages in length). These rules may be adjusted as we go. If you unsure about a piece’s length send it to me and I can give you the thumbs-up/down.
Once we get going, we may organize other poetry-themed events: host readings, talk publishing, etc.
If you have any other questions, contact me (James Cole) here on Meetup or at [masked]
Look forward to seeing you all there!
